Apathy?My life won’t be much different from yours, a monotonous day to day routine, 8’x8’ cubicles, a loveless marriage, and spaghetti three times a week. I’ll wake up at 6:30am to my husband, fond but not in love. I get up and take a shower, washing my hair with generic shampoo I bought in bulk at Costco in case Armageddon came a bit earlier then planned and I wanted a clean head, you know, while I watched the world burn. Once I’m dressed I grab an apple and watch the news while making coffee, there’s a story about a chimp attempting to rip some woman’s face off, I debate on whether the 911 call is tragic or comicApathy?

comfort of strangersCity buses felt like magic, I counted yellow lines and street lights blurring past the window. A hand fondled my cheek, my neck, fingers running down my shirt sleeve. I look next to me and see a woman, who knows if she’s young or old? Her head facing the opposite seats and her eyes hidden behind thick black glasses, probably because they’re empty. Her hand slides down my arm and on top of my hand and she begins squeezing, I felt my fingers pop, and finally squeezed her hand back till she smiled. “sometimes, I just need to make sure I’m really not alone here.” she says.comfort of strangers
